Many people think that storing fruits and veggies is a complicated task. They often struggle with storing and organizing them at their home. The reason for it is that fruits and veggies are fragile, and you need optimum care to handle them. Your minor mistake can speed up the bacteria process, and soon you will experience that the fruits and veggies are getting rotten. But with the help of a few tricks and tips, you can perfectly organize them. Know that not all fruits and veggies are appropriate to keep in one place. Some fruits and veggies are better in the fridge, some tend to go in the freezer, and others sit well with your countertop and pantry. Consider that you need to keep almost all fruits and veggies in segregated containers. If all your fruits and vegetable are in the same place, they can cross-contaminate. It is the reason why many stores ask shopfitting contractors to design cabinets for each food item. Below we are listing down the five productive and time-saving hacks that can help you organize your fruits and veggies for the week.

    • Plan ahead of time

If there is one thing you need the most in organizing is your planning. Veggies and fruits both have a short shelf life. If you are storing them raw, you need to set a timer and need to consume them within it. So, make sure you plan ahead of the weak regarding the veggies and fruits you will consume. It is advisable that you go along with your schedule and make sure you eat the product within the time. You have to plan which veggies and fruits you will use and buy them in limited quantities.

    • Wash before storing

The essential thing is to wash your fruits and veggies before you organize them. Putting away the veggies right away and not cleaning them can have drastic impacts. The dirt can grow on the fruits and veggies, and it can increase the production of bacteria. The veggies and fruits will not be of any use by the time you need to consume them. Run your produce under the clean water, pat dries them, and then prepare yourself to store them. You can also use a mixer of vinegar, baking soda, and lemon to wash the veggies and fruits.

    • Portions before storing

Know that some produce it well when you freeze it. The best way to store your veggies is by diving them in chunks you need to consume. You cannot defrost the whole portion of veggies and then freeze the rest of the fruits and veggies. Divide the veggies into such a portion that you need per your meal.

    • Containers or air-tight bags

It is best if you store every product in a separate container or a bag. Air-tight containers and bags are the optimum solutions for organizing each veggie and fruit. Using single containers will reduce the possibility of cross-contamination.

    • Use your pantry

Not all fruits and veggies will go in your refrigerator. There are many foods that you need to keep in a dry place. The produce that goes into your pantry is following:

    Potato

    Onion

    Garlic

    Banana
