All You Need to Know About Cleaning a Reglazed or Refinished Bathtub

The bathtub is one of the prime attractions of your bathroom idea. Besides enhancing the appeal of the bathroom design, it increases its functionality as well. After a long and tiring day, taking a long and relaxing bath in your bathtub is one of the best feelings you can get. It will replenish your mind and help you to get rid of stress. However, you must keep in mind that a bathtub comes with lots of responsibilities. You have to maintain it properly so that it appears appealing and lasts longer. If you do not clean your reglazed or refinished bathtub timely, it will get dirty and will diminish the overall appeal of your bathroom design. Mentioned below are a few steps that will help you to clean a reglazed or refinished bathtub:

01 of 06 Rinse the tub

The first thing that you should do while cleaning the bathtub in your bathroom idea is rinsing. Many experts suggest using warm water instead of normal water. This will help you to get rid of hair and excess soap residue properly. If you remove them at the very beginning, you will not face any difficulty while cleaning.

02 of 06 Apply the cleaner

There are various types of cleaners available in the market. Before using any cleaner, make sure it is meant for cleaning bathtubs. You do not want to apply a cleaner that can damage your bathtub. Gently, apply the cleaner on all the surfaces of the bathtub. Make sure you do not leave any spots behind. If you are not using a spray, pour the cleaner first and then spread it with a sponge or piece of cloth.

03 of 06 Allow the cleaner to sit

After applying the cleaner to all the surfaces, you must not start washing or scrubbing immediately. Instead, allow it to sit there for five to seven minutes. This will allow the cleaner to loosen the residues and stains. As a result, you can easily wipe them off later with a scrubber. Further, the cleaner disinfects the bathtub as well.

04 of 06 Scrub the bathtub

After five to seven minutes, use a sponge to wipe the surface of the bathtub clean. While choosing the scrubber, you must always keep in mind that it does not have any scouring material on either side. A microfiber cloth is acceptable as well. Many bathtubs have non-slip surfaces that can be cleaned using a soft and nylon-bristle brush.

05 of 06 Rinse it again

Once the scrubbing process is complete and the residues and stains are not visible, you need to rinse it off again. While rinsing it off, make sure that you do not leave any traces of the cleaner behind. You need to be extremely careful about this while using cleaners like dish soap as they can make the surface slippery and increase the chances of an accident. Further, exposing the surface of your bathtub to a cleaner for a prolonged period of time can damage it.

06 of 06 Allow it to dry off

After completing the rinsing process, you will have to dry it off as well. The best way to dry your bathtub is by wiping it with a dry soft towel or cloth. To bring back its new-like shine, buff the finish. However, it is not necessary to buff the finish after cleaning the bathtub every time. It just helps to get back the shine. You can buff the surface only when you think it is necessary.

How to maintain your reglazed or refinished Bathtub?

Irrespective of the material you choose for the bathtub in your bathroom design, you must always remember that it will require timely maintenance. While some materials tend to be a little durable and require very little to no maintenance, others require frequent maintenance and lose their appeal if not maintained properly. Experts suggest avoiding appliques or bathtub mats with suction cups. They can damage the coating of the bathtub. Moreover, using such items can void your warranty as well. If you need a non-slip bath mat, always choose the options without suction cups. Also, you must use it in the bathtub only when the tub is in use. At other times, you must remove it from the surface of your bathtub.
